In 1982, Pastor Bither attended a Missions convention, and learned of the hardship and extreme needs of the Haitian people. After accepting an invitation to visit the Haitian missionary, Pastor Bither and his wife were confronted with the hopelessness of these people. It was at this time, that God gave them a vision of what He wanted them to do. God helped them see beyond the sickness, starvation and poverty; to see the peoples' spiritual hopelessness. Darkened by hundreds of years of voodoo and dictators, the Haitian people need hope, and that hope is Jesus Christ.
To bring God’s Word to a lost and hurting people, first, you must love them. We do this by helping to feed the children, provide clean drinking water, minister to medical needs and offer Christian schools. This has opened the door to people wanting to know more about our God. Hundreds have been saved, fourteen new churches have been started in rural villages, and many Haitian Christians have decided to become Pastors to their own people. Now, the Haitian Pastors are reaching their own country for Christ. This is the mission of Haiti Endowment: To love, raise up, teach and train Haitian Pastors to bring God’s Word to their people.
This interdenominational ministry is a Non-Profit Corporation, as defined by U.S. Governmental codes. Since it’s inception, in 1982, not one of the U.S. participants, workers or directors, have received any financial compensation for their participation. Everyone involved, from the doctors to the construction workers, has donated their time and paid their own expenses. This has enabled Haiti Endowment to bring 96% of all donations, straight to the aid of the Haitian people. To learn more about how your donations are used, please review the “Programs” heading on our home page.
